CDL Class A

A lumber yard CDL-A driver safely drives heavy trucks to deliver wood and building supplies to local jobsites. This local driving job lets you stay home every night. 

Job Duties
Drive flatbeds or straight trucks to local customer sites.
Load and strap down lumber, panels, and trusses safely.
Unload goods using a piggyback/Princeton forklift or dump bed.
Inspect the truck daily per DOT rules.
Help in the yard with stock, inventory, and cleaning. 

Requirements
Valid Class A Commercial Driver’s License (CDL).
Clean driving record that meets DOT standards.
Valid DOT medical card.
Ability to lift heavy objects (up to 50–100 lbs).
Skill or willingness to learn truck-mounted forklift use.
Skill or willingness to learn Truss Roll-Off Trailer

Box Truck Driver 

A millwork box truck driver safely transports custom wood products, doors, and trim using 16-to-26-foot 
trucks. This hands-on role involves loading cargo, navigating active construction sites, and providing 
professional customer service without requiring a commercial driver's license (CDL). 

Core Responsibilities
Driving and Delivery: Safely operate a 16’ to 26’ box truck to deliver doors, windows, and trim to 
         residential and commercial job sites. 
Loading and Securing: Hand-load, wrap, stage, and manually secure heavy finished materials to 
        prevent cargo damage during transport. 
Customer Interaction: Verify orders against shipping paperwork, communicate delivery times or 
        site delays, and collect required signatures. 
Vehicle Maintenance: Perform pre-trip and post-trip safety inspections and keep the truck clean. 

Job Requirements
Licensing: Valid regular driver’s license (Class D) with a clean Motor Vehicle Record (MVR); 
        Department of Transportation (DOT) medical card often required. 
Experience: 1 to 3 years of general delivery or box truck driving experience; building materials 
        or warehouse background preferred.
Physical Strength: Frequently lift, carry, push, and pull heavy items ranging from 50 lbs to over 100 lbs,
        working in all outdoor weather conditions. 
Soft Skills: Strong communication, independent time management, and professional customer service skills.

Assembler Truss Shop

An assembler in a truss shop builds wooden roof and floor components on an assembly line. Workers 
line up wood pieces using blueprints, clamp or fasten parts with metal plates, and use hand or power 
tools to finish building materials for construction projects. 

Job Duties and Tasks
Position wood parts on assembly tables using guides and blueprints
Use hand tools, power tools, and automated rollers to press metal connector plates into wood
Measure and cut wood pieces to fit specific sizes
Move finished trusses off the line and stack them for shipping
Keep the work area clean and safe 

Skills and Requirements
Read a tape measure and basic blueprints
Use basic hand and power tools safely
Follow simple written and verbal directions
Work in a team on a fast-paced production line
